Since the beginning of time humans have searched for ways to convey their emotions through visual methods. Starting with cave paintings, moving into charcoal drawings and oil paintings, and eventually into true representations of reality such as photographs, photo art has captivated and enthralled people for millennia.
Being humans means we are all part of this worlds natural landscape. This intrigues and inspires us in ways that nothing else can. Since the beginning of the photography movement, photographers have turned to the natural landscape for the subject of some of their best works. Truly landscape photography is able to evoke such emotions that it is perhaps the greatest subject of all.
Amongst photographers it is often debated whether man made structures, cities or coastal subjects are representative of landscape photography. Often times these subjects are categorized in different genres, such as Seascape Photography and Cityscape Photography. From a technical standpoint, there is validity to this argument in that landscape photography is a sub genre of Nature photography and man made structures are not natural.
